October 27th Show

Well, hope you listeners had some fun listening today. (Obviously you did, or else why would you listen? Surely not because you were held at gunpoint.) We opened the show today with a CD of masked superheroes, the great Aquabats! More specifically, their songs:
  • Super Rad!
  • Red Sweater!
  • Magic Chicken!
  • Cat with 2 Heads!
  • The Story of Nothing!
  • Attacked by Snakes!
Once that got us all in a nice mood, we moved on to our "PRESS START!" segment, with today's game being a harrowing trip into Castlevania, whuppin' ghosts and kitties and fishmen and other stuff. Rather ghastly, let me tell you. That Dracula keeps some strange company.
Having perished in the upper levels, I called for a lightening of the mood by playing some Santana, specifically, "Into the Night." Following that, I felt the need to play some 80s music, so away I went with another block of songs:
  • Tears For Fears "Everybody Wants to Rule the World"
  • After the fire "Der Kommissar"
  • Flock of Seagulls "I Ran"
  • Dead or Alive "You Spin Me Round"
After this block, my time was almost up, but I suddenly realized - though I had played a game with Halloween-y vibes, I had not played any music that was even remotely Halloween-y. So, before the end of the

October 20 show

Sorry for missing last week's blog posting, but I was having a bit too much fun on-air.

Anyway, this week, I decided to open things up with a Ramones set, which meant:

  • Blitzkrieg Bop
  • Judy is a Punk
  • Pinhead
  • Commando
  • Teenage Lobotomy
  • I Wanna Be Sedated
  • I Just to Have Something to Do (snuck in at the end)
Anyway, the listeners' rolls sufficiently rocked, it was time to move on to the show's signature moment, "PRESS START!" This week, to help raise the IQ of my listeners, I set up a show of "Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?" And boy, was that exciting, tracking down a dastardly criminal, stealing a cardinal's robes! Sadly, our escapades did not last, for just when we thought we had our man...our fabricated evidence betrayed us, and it turned out we tracked the wrong person! Bah, we failed. Our next endeavor was to retrieve some old Indian art, but we were cut short, and were forced to Abort!
We were awful detectives, and Joe Nichols' "The Impossible" was played to help us reflect on our failures. One box of tissues later, I decided it was time to perk up the mood, and began playing some oldies, including:
  • The Kinks - Come Dancing
  • Joe Jackson - Steppin' Out
  • The Doors - Riders on the Storm
At this point, the show was just about over. I closed the show with a rendition of the Plain White T's "Hey There Delilah." Such was the end of the show.

Oh well...any suggestions, requests, etc. are always appreciated. After all, nothing pleases me, the DJ, more than you doing the work for me!

See you next week.

10-6:

So, what's in Our show today, you ask? An excellent question, given that We sometimes have trouble keeping track of these things Ourselves.

We opened with a block of The White Stripes, specifically:
  • Death Letter
  • The Hardest Button to Button
  • Fell in Love With a Girl
  • Icky Thump
Those songs complete, We moved right into our "PRESS START!" segment with Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! (The game's punctuation, not Ours), detailing boxer Little Mac's escapades through the Minor and Major circuits of the W.V.B.A. The fights were long and hard, but in the end, Mac triumphed over all obstacles and hardships, like some real-life Rocky Balboa! Such are the tales of triumph. Oh, it brings a tear to Our eye...

Moving on, We launched into a set of Instrumental, non-lyrical songs. These included:
  • "YYZ" by Rush
  • "Radiator" by Paul Gilbert
  • "Green Hornet" by Al Hirt
By then, it was unfortunately the end of Our show. Things were a bit messy today, since We were operating this show almost entirely through an independent computer, not the standard CD player. Oh well...can't win them all. Pity. T'was still a great show, though. And one of the better rounds of "PRESS START" we've had in the program. Very nice.
