December 15 show - We'll Meet Again

As the final production of "The G-Man Presents..." of the year, I chose to end it with some oldies. For a start:

-Noel Coward "World Weary"
-Perry Como "Papa Loves Mambo"
-Johnnie Ray "Just Walking in the Rain"
-Bobby Darin "Beyond the Sea"
-Patti Page "How Much is That Doggie in the Window"
-Bing Crosby "Brother Can You Spare a Dime"

As another look at oldies, the "PRESS START" segment today was a round of "The Immortal," where you play a very-bearded fellow who's anything but. The game's extremely difficult, and that was quite obvious as we played through, not even making our way through level one.
Bah, enough of that. Time for more Oldies, this time one band in particular: The Ink Spots. This old 30s-40s band had quite a few nice hits in its time, and today we listened to many of them. Among the songs:

-Maybe
-If I Didn't Care
-Java Jive
-It's Only a Shanty in an Old Shanty Town
-I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire

At this point, the show had come to its end; time for the final song. One that'll tell you that it's over for now, but I'll be back! And I MEAN I'll be back! Vera Lynn's "We'll Meet Again."

So, goodbye for now, but just wait until next year...oh yes, just you wait. >:3

December 8 show - Holiday Spirit

Today's show was much more laid back than others, I'm afraid to say. Because of some excessive end-of-semester work, I wasn't especially prepared as I usually am.
For the opening set today, I chose "fan remixes." Video and computer games have very devoted fans, and I used the opening set to showcase some things these fans have produced. Among the played games:
  • "Wasteland Dancin'," a Fallout 3 remix by "Airshom".
  • "Starcraft Virus," a Starcraft remix by a currently-unknown fan.
  • "It's Beginning to Look a Lot like Dustbowl," a Team Fortress 2 remix by The Dead Workers Party.
  • "Twelve Days of Starcraft," a Starcraft remix by Blizzard, apparently produced as a joke by the company; nice when a company can laugh at its own product.
  • "Spy Sappin' My Sandwich," another Team Fortress 2 remix, also by The Dead Workers Party. A parody of a Christmas carol.
After tiring of remixes, I decided to move on to our "PRESS START!" where this week we went back to basics, playing an NES game. This one was going to be a bit longer than usual, being the game "Legend of Zelda." Didn't intend for it to go on as long as it did, but oh well.
No suitable song could be found for reflection purposes, so I moved on to our closing set, Paul McCartney. Songs played were:
  • "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five"
  • "Live and Let Die"
  • "Band on the Run"
About then, we were out of time on the show, and it was time for the next DJ. So, until next week...such was the end of The G-Man Presents. See you next week!

December 1 show - Under Cover and Surfing

GENTLEMEN.

For the show this week, I was inspired by the "Remix" theme I had going for last week's opening set. Indeed, I decided we should listen to a single artist's cover songs - the covers of Annie Lennox. Listed below are the songs I played, along with the original artists:

-No More 'I Love You's - The Lover Speaks (1986)
-A Whiter Shade of Pale - Procol Harum (1967)
-Don't Let it Bring you Down - Neil Young (1970)
-Something so Right - Paul Simon (1973)

After this set of covers, it was time to "PRESS START!" And press start we did, heading down to the Bahamas to chill with "Greendog: The Beached Surfer Dude," a platform starring a faceless surf bum who's come into ownership of a cursed Aztec pendant. To remove the pendant, we must gather the six pieces of the Ancient Aztec Treasure. After all, we have a Killer Frisbee, a Pedal-Copter, and a trunks-load of motivation!
Alas, it wasn't meant to be; while attempting to attack enemy crabs and hit their weak points for massive damage, we dropped our frisbee, and Greendog dissolved into nothingness. Sad.
As a shout-out to the late Greendog, I played some music I think fit the mood of the game - where we were getting around the Bahamas - and played the Beach Boys' "I Get Around."
To close the song, I put up some modern rock songs, which included:

-"Propane Nightmares" by Pendulum
-"Race for the Prize" by The Flaming Lips
-"Ankle Injuries" by Fujiya & Miyagi

Once more, those who read, comments, suggestions, etc. are never out of the question. PLEASE!

Okey-dokey, see you next week!

-G-Man
